Bitcoin price rise could lead to smart home attacks that cause electricity bills to rise, cybersecurity expert warns


People’s properties could come beneath assault as a consequence of bitcoin’s price surge, a cybersecurity expert has warned.

“Cryptojacking” incidents, throughout which people’s devices are quietly hijacked and compelled to mine digital currencies for various people, are on the rise.

However, it’s not merely frequent pc methods that are in peril.

Completely different internet-connected devices throughout the home – seemingly harmless devices corresponding to smart thermostats, light bulbs and cameras – could be centered, and victims received’t even uncover they’d been attacked until they observed their electricity bills inflate.
